Coldstream Brewery, Yarra Valley

Coldstream Brewery Beers on Tap

If you’re heading to the Yarra Valley region for great a day out and you’re more of a lover of beer than wine, I highly recommend you stop by the Coldstream Brewery pub for a nice cold ale and a bite to eat.

Located approximately 45km east of Melbourne’s CBD at 694 Maroondah Highway, Coldstream, the Brewery offers an excellent range of locally produced ales, gourmet food, good service and a cosy pub atmosphere.

Coldstream Brewery Pub

The Coldstream Brewery is the creation of five mates who decided to start brewing their own brand of beers and ciders. Two years later, in 2007, the Coldstream Brewery opened its doors to the public. The Brewery quickly gained popularity and success, with their boutique beers and ciders now stocked by most major retailers.

The rustic style Coldstream Brewery pub, with the ‘Shivering Man’ logo, has become recognised as the best micro-brewery experience in the Yarra Valley. The Brewery forms part of the Yarra Valley Beer and Ale Trail.

The Coldstream Brewery pub is open from 11am till late most days. The pub’s restaurant is open for lunch and dinner only and offers a range of sharing platers, pizzas and hearty pub style food that’s perfect for warming you up on a cold winter’s day. They also have a beer garden out the back, which is the ideal place to spend some time on a lazy summer day.

Coldstream Brewery Tasting Paddle

Coldstream Brewery Tasting Paddle

The Brewery pub’s tasting paddle is the perfect option for those who want to sample the Brewery’s range of Coldstream-produced craft ales, without having to worry about the consequences of over indulging. Priced at just $10, the tasting paddle allows you to try five different ale’s from the Coldstream Brewery’s range. My tasting paddle included Czech Pilsner, Crisp Pale Ale, Real Original Ale, Grand Porter and Apple Cider. My personal favourite was the Czech Pilsner and my drinking buddy’s was the Real Original Ale. We both enjoyed the Apple Cider as it was light and refreshing.

For lunch we ordered a delicious Mexican Chicken Pizza, which was enough for two of us to share. We visited the pub on a Friday afternoon and the service was fast and the wait staff were friendly and attentive. There weren’t a lot of patrons in the pub at the time so the atmosphere was quiet and laid back, which suited us just fine. I am told however, that the pub can get quite busy on the weekends, which might mean a bit more of a wait.

Next time I’m in the Yarra Valley region I will definitely be making another pit stop at the Coldstream Brewery pub to sample a few more ales and try another delicious dish.
